Round 6 Pick 202: Eric McAlister, Receiver, TCU

It is rare to see a team not only go back-to-back receivers, but also draft three receivers in the same draft. Barring a trade, Eric McAlister is another intriguing prospect for New England. When it comes to the Patriots, drafting receivers has not been their strong suit. It is also one of their current weak points on the team. He adds more depth, competition, and potential to the receivers.
McAlister is another tall receiver at 6’4″. While there is some debate on his 40-yard time, the TCU standout’s game speed is obvious on film. McAlister plays fast, blowing past coverage and accelerating quickly after catches over the middle. He also shows unexpected shiftiness for his height.
McAlister has displayed some weaknesses with off-the-line with footwork, crisp route running, and strength, but what he lacks in these areas, he makes up for with speed. He is a raw talent in need of refinement, but could definitely contribute to taking the top off of defenses as a nice number three receiver.
