This New England Patriots mock draft will feature eleven picks that will include two in the fourth round and five in the sixth. Coming off an unexpected Super Bowl appearance under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel, the Patriots find themselves at the end of each round. While the potential for trades is definitely present with the depth of picks at New England’s disposal, this mock draft will assume the lack of such transactions.
Despite having a great season and being ahead of schedule, the Patriots have glaring holes at O-Line, edge rushers, and wide receiver. Throughout the postseason, the lack of offensive line talent reared its head. Drake Maye was sacked a record 21 times, six coming on the biggest stage against the Seahawks. Priority one is to protect the franchise quarterback heading into this season.
New England made some moves during free agency, adding depth on defense, including the signing of safety Kevin Byard. The Patriots also saw the departure of many starters, including star wideout Steffon Diggs and top edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson, leaving gaping holes in already thin positions. While rumors of an AJ Brown and New England marriage continue to swirl, the Patriots will need to build from this year’s draft if they want to be competing again come January.
