Round 6 Pick 191: George Gumgs Jr., Defensive End, Florida

An all-around athlete, George Gumgs Jr. has seen his share of multiple positions throughout his college career. His experience on the edge is limited, but his intangibles and overall athleticism make him a great Day 3 pickup. At Florida, Gumgs Jr. did everything asked of him, from rushing off the edge to containing the run and even dropping into coverage.
Gumgs’ mentality, both as a football player and a professional, makes him ideal. He is explosive off the line and is not one to shy away from contact. Teams will need to consider Gumgs’ knee health, however, following his senior season being cut short due to a meniscus injury requiring surgery despite looking healthy at the combine including his 41 inch vertical display. While in need of refinement and technique, he possesses the ideal body type to eventually be a starter and can also carve out a role for himself on special teams.
