Round 4 Pick 131: Mason Reiger, Linebacker, Wisconsin

Mason Reiger is the pick for the Patriots to fill the void left by sack leader Chaisson. He shows a “Vrabel-ish” style, rushing the quarterback, using speed, and getting under the offensive lineman’s pads. While lacking the stereotypical frame of an edge rusher, his athleticism is undeniable. Reiger plays with relentless aggressiveness, making him a perfect pairing with the Milton Williams-led strong interior.
Reiger had a solid season at Wisconsin, appearing in all 12 games for 514 snaps and registering 45 pressures and five sacks. He followed up with a standout performance at the East-West Shrine bowl. According to reports, Reiger dominated practices and finished with three sacks in the game. His draft stock continued to rise at the NFL combine, finishing top 5 for defensive lineman in three categories including number two in the vertical jump at 40 inches.
Reiger’s strong performances over the last few months has scouts looking his way and will be a coveted pick on Day 3.
