The 2026 Philadelphia Eagles will have a new look on offense this season. Despite going 11-6 and making the playoffs, the team was terrible on offense last year. They hired Sean Mannion as the offensive coordinator, who comes from the Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan tree, and Philadelphia’s Super Bowl hopes rest on whether Jalen Hurts can orchestrate the new offense or not.
The Super Bowl LIX MVP has faced a ton of criticism in his career, and 2026 is shaping up to be no different. Hurts needs to play the way he did in 2022 and 2023, when his passing numbers were the best of his career. Last season, the passing offense ranked 23rd in the NFL with 194.3 yards per game, and that’s not good enough with the talent that was on the team. Hurts will need to improve his numbers if this team wants to reach their third Super Bowl of this decade.
2026 Philadelphia Eagles Additions
The Eagles went into the offseason having to restructure their offense around Hurts, starting with the addition of Mannion from the Green Bay Packers. He has a high football IQ, was responsible for developing Jordan Love into a top NFL quarterback, and now he can do the same for Hurts. He’ll be assisted by Josh Grizzard, who worked with Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay, and Jerrod Johnson, who helped CJ Stroud through his rookie season with the Houston Texans.
The Eagles selected Makai Lemon and Eli Stowers in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft. They added wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, who has familiarity with Mannion from their time in Green Bay. After missing all of last season due to injury, red zone threat Johnny Wilson will be back, and Devonta Smith and Dallas Goedert will be the main targets in what hopes to be a rejuvenated passing attack. Hurts has all the pieces in place to have an elite season.
Last year, the offensive line played through injuries or were coming off of surgery, but they appear healthy and ready to go for 2026. The big guys upfront are the key to success for the Eagles, who are known for winning games in the trenches. If they can return to their 2024 form, then Saquon Barkley could be one of the league’s leading rushers again.
2026 Philadelphia Eagles Defense Is Their Calling Card
Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio is the “Godfather” of defense and is back at the helm after flirting with retirement. He came back for his third season with the Eagles, and he has some new pieces to work with. General Manager Howie Roseman for Jonathan Grennard from the Vikings, who had 24.5 sacks in 2023 and 2024, but only managed 3 last year after being hampered by a shoulder injury in 12 games. His 13.5% pressure rate ranked seventh in the NFL, despite his injury.
Riq Woolen comes over from the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks to play alongside All-Pro Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper Dejean. Woolen is a physical player who’s big for his position at 6’4, but has lacked discipline over the past few seasons. If he can straighten out his game, that will take pressure off the safeties.
Eagles Face Tough Division Competition
The joke used to be that the NFC East is the NFC “Least”, but not in 2026. The Dallas Cowboys improved their defense with their first-round selections of Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence. Their high-flying offense returns intact, so if the defense can be average, they can make noise.
The Washington Commanders have Jayden Daniels, who’ll be motivated to regain his rookie-year form. They also drafted linebacker Sonny Styles from Ohio State to improve their pass rush. The New York Giants brought in Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh to change the culture. The Eagles will have a tough road to win their third straight division title, but they have the team to achieve that goal and more.
