Round 5 Pick 171: Keagen Trost, Tackle, Missouri

The Patriots need to continue adding depth to their offensive line, picking up another tackle to add to the competition and depth. Keagon Trost is a seventh-year senior with 42 starts under his belt. His experience should allow for a comfortable transition into the NFL.
For Trost, being on the cusp of making an NFL roster seemed like a long shot for the longest time. Initially, he struggled to be recruited out of high school finally landing in Morgan State for the 2019 season. “Early in my career, I didn’t think I would be here (being NFL prospect),” Trost said. Following Morgan State, he bounced around moving from Indiana State University to Wake Forest, finally concluding his career in Missouri.
At 6’5″ and 311 pounds, Trost shows a mixture of strength and size while maintaining impressive athleticism. Some analysts have expressed concerns with his ability to handle the speed of NFL pass rushers off the edge, suggesting teams look to move him inside to guard. Trost is the best tackle left in the draft by this point and should help in strengthening the Patriots’ weakest point on the team.
