Round 4 Pick 125: Jalon Kilgor, Corner/Safety, South Carolina

While New England already boasts a top-5 corner in Christian Gonzalez, adding depth where injuries can kill an entire defense can be an excellent move. Jalon Kilgor brings a hybrid style of corner/safety that can allow for creative defensive schemes for New England.
At 6’1″, Kilgor is a physical player with a nose for the football. His ability to move from slot corner to run support can allow him to be a bit of a “spur”-style player. His size also allows him to match up with tight ends, something a lot of corners struggle with due to size discrepancies. The ability to shift roles depending on the game, as well as ball hawking, makes him ideal for a defense in need of more dynamic players.
Kilgor does have some fluidity issues, showing a lack of burst coming out of breaks or changing direction, but could fit perfectly in the Vrabel defense. While the Patriots do have other needs, a talent like Kilgor could be hard to pass up in the fourth.
