Round 3 Pick 95: Sam Roush, Tight End, Stanford

In round three, look for New England to go offense for the third time in a row. With the departure of Austin Hooper, the Patriots are in need of depth at tight end. While Hunter Henry still remains productive, the veteran leader is not the long-term solution at the position.
Among his biggest strengths, Sam Roush’s blocking is perhaps the strongest. At Stanford, he displayed excellent technique on the line both in run and pass blocking. Roush does not have the receiving highlights of a Kyle Pitts, but his large 6’6″ frame gives Maye a big target in the red zone, somewhere the Patriots struggled last year. If New England looks to run a 12-man (double TE) formation this year, Roush will add much-needed help, especially in the run and play-action game.
