Bishop Fitzgerald is an interesting paradox. While he doesn’t possess elite speed, he has proven to be an asset as a ball-hawking safety with solid change of direction. In run support, he struggles with the fundamentals of diagnosing the play and pursuing the ball. A mixed bag as a prospect, Fitzgerald is not going to be at the top of everybody’s board in the fourth round.

At this point in the draft, getting a safety that can be a contributor in coverage has value, so the Steelers can pick up some depth with Fitzgerald. His miscues in run support can be cleaned up with coaching, and teams would love to see his interception production continue in the NFL. He’s a prospect that’s a project, but he’s a project that has upside.
