Round 3, Pick 85: Dominique Orange, Defensive Tackle, Iowa State

Dominique Orange is an interesting case at defensive tackle. On one hand, Orange has value as an athletic, run-stuffing nose tackle, which is valuable for teams like the Steelers that run a 3-4 base defensive scheme. On the other hand, he is a non-factor as a pass rusher, a red flag that limits his value in a quarterback-oriented league. His inability to use his hands effectively to defeat blocks makes the case for picking him tougher.
That being said, Orange can be a good value in a defensive line rotation on early downs and fits a niche for a handful of teams in the league. He’s a player with power and the athleticism to disrupt run schemes. Orange might be too enticing for Pittsburgh to pass up at this point in the third round.
