Round 6, Pick 224: Thaddeus Dixon, Cornerback, North Carolina

Thaddeus Dixon offers good value at this point in the draft. While he doesn’t excel at any one thing as a corner, he has good enough size, speed, and coverage skills to be a versatile backup in the NFL. His length at 6’1″ combined with above-average change of direction makes him a reasonable pick at this point in the draft.
Dixon’s biggest drawbacks are an inconsistent technique leading to big plays and a lack of elite speed. With some coaching, he can be a solid backup in the league, and a flexible backup in the secondary is a boon for any defense in the NFL. He can be a good fit in Pittsburgh as a depth piece and as a special teamer.
