Round 5, Pick 162: Charles Demmings, Cornerback, Stephen F. Austin

Baltimore needs to get younger at cornerback. Both Chidobe Awuzie and Marlon Humphrey are entering their tenth season in the league. The production is still there, with 20 passes defended between them and Humphrey’s four interceptions last season. The Ravens need depth behind their starting corners, and Charles Demmings could be an option in the fifth round.
Demmings has the kind of ball skills that teams covet, with nine interceptions in his college career. He also tested well at the Combine, with a 4.41 40-yard dash to go with his 6’1″ frame. Demmings struggles with technique in pass coverage and is a liability in run support. He will likely start his career as a special teamer, with the upside of becoming a backup corner with some coaching.
