On his YouTube Channel recently, former New England Patriot Stefon Diggs said that there is no “number two” receiver in the NFL better than him. His comments come as the four-time Pro Bowler remains an unsigned free agent. While he may have a case to be in the argument (85 receptions, 1,013 yards, and 4 touchdowns), there are a couple of receivers better than him, who are not the top dogs on their respective teams.

A couple of NFL offenses boast what could be argued as two “number one receivers”. By process of elimination, one of them has to be Alpha, and the other would be considered better than Diggs. The Dallas Cowboys feature a tandem of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Lamb had more yards than Diggs last season, despite missing three games, and Pickens had more yards (1,429), receptions (93), and touchdowns (9).

The Los Angeles Rams have a similar pairing. Puka Nacua led the NFL in receptions (129), and was second in targets (166) and yards (1,715). His teammate, Devonte Adams, led the NFL in touchdown receptions (14). Diggs would have to play third fiddle on both of those squads, but there are ten teams where he could play the role of number two, or maybe hold onto the number one title a little longer.
