Patrick Mahomes top target is always going to be his newlywed tight end, but he needs other receivers to throw to, and to open up the center of the offense for Travis Kelce. Rashee Rice was the team’s second leading receiver in 2025 (53 receptions for 571), and he’s sitting in a prison cell right now.
With Rice’s future uncertain, the team not only has no second option, but they also have no first option in the passing game. Xavier Worthy is never going to be that guy, and fifth-round pick Cyrus Allen definitely won’t be the guy in 2026. Diggs has a chance to be a top dog in Kansas City and help Mahomes get back to the promised land.
