The Commanders’ alpha dog is Terry McLaurin, but he only played 10 games last season. The leading receiver for the team statistically was Deebo Samuel (72 receptions for 727 yards), and he’s a free agent now. Treylon Burks and Antonio Williams are slotted in at two and three on the depth chart, and that will not do at all.

Jayden Daniels is coming back from an injury, and he needs weapons to throw to, or he’s going to get hurt again, trying to gain yards on the ground. Diggs would be the perfect complement to McLaurin, and would open up the middle of the field for newly acquired Chig Okonkwo.
