Round 7, Pick 251: Logan Taylor, Guard, Boston College

The strength of the Rams’ offensive line relies on the interior power of the guards. Kevin Dotson and Steve Avila are two of the top guards in the NFL and cannot be replaced. A solid backup can diminish the negative impact if they get injured. Logan Taylor can be that backup.
Taylor was a four-year starter at Boston College, with gifted athleticism, who relies on his technique to play the position. His strong hands and quick feet help him adjust in space within the Rams’ successful run zone scheme.
His biggest issues are a lack of pop upon contact with a defender, and because he plays at an elevated pad level, Taylor is susceptible to counters and swim moves from pass rushers. This may be a problem when facing the monstrous interior defensive line of teams like Seattle, but Taylor has the grit and tenacity that can’t be coached.
