Round 6, Pick 207: Josh Moten, Cornerback, Southern Mississippi

The Rams don’t have a pick in rounds four or five, so the picks in rounds six and seven are low-cost and high-reward selections. Los Angeles signed the Kansas City cornerback tandem of McDuffie and Watson to be the starters on the outside. Quentin Lake signed a three-year extension in January, and although he’s listed as a safety, he spent a lot of time playing as the nickel corner last season. Emmanuel Forbes had a resurrection of his career playing for the Rams in 2025. Even though Los Angeles has made significant improvements in the secondary, more depth is needed. That’s where Josh Moten comes in.
At 6’1″, Moten has elite ball tracking ability that leads to interceptions. Last season at Southern Miss, he had five interceptions. He isn’t great against the run, but the Rams’ run defense was impressive last season. His run defense, tackling, and size can be improved through offseason coaching and weight lifting. Moten brings exactly what the Rams need: coverage and turnovers.
The biggest concern with Moten is off-the-field issues, but culture is one of the reasons why the Rams have been so successful. The “we not me” attitude within the Rams locker room keeps strong personalities like Odell Beckham Jr. and Jalen Ramsey in check. Moten is still young and has time to mature, just like Baker Mayfield when he was drafted in 2018.
