Team USA 1996: Relief Pitchers

Lee Smith
There are a number of great relief pitchers who started in the mid 1990’s, like Mariano Rivera or Trevor Hoffman, but they had not established themselves by 1995 to make this team. By 1996, the most consistent and dominant reliever in the league was Lee Smith. He is coming off a 37-save season and a few years removed from four consecutive 40-save seasons. With this lineup and this starting staff, there likely won’t be many save opportunities.
Randy Myers
Randy Myers had a league-leading 53 saves in 1993, followed by 21 in 1994, and then a league-leading 38 in 1995. He is the left-handed version of Lee Smith and gives Team USA a couple of guys out of the bullpen that can shut down any player in any lineup around the world.
