The Yankees desperately need a big-time addition to give them a jolt for the last third of the season. Their offense has been anemic, but the looming danger for them is their aging rotation in Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon. Ryan Weathers has also been a serious disappointment for the team.
What the Tigers might salivate at is the Yankees’ deep farm system of pitchers, with eight out of the ten ranked prospects all starters. Some of them, including Elmer Rodriguez and Carlos Lagrange, might be ready for the big leagues now. The Yankees could also give away Dax Kilby to the Tigers and keep George Lombard Jr, while also dealing away Spencer Jones in a hypothetical trade. While the lack of offensive chips might not make a trade happen, some options do exist on the table between the two teams.
