Cleveland Guardians
An interdivisional trade for Skubal might break baseball, but it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. The Guardians have long been a thorn in the Tigers’ side, but with a team desperate to get value, it could be wise to strike while the iron is hot. It’s definitely a possibility with the youth this team brings to the table.
The Guardians have quietly assembled a lethal team and farm system, including a strong pitching prospect in Braylon Doughty. They have no starting pitchers over the age of 30, though, and only one pitcher, Tanner Bibee, has three years of service time. They also hold a first baseman prospect in Ralphy Velazquez and two low-profile outfield prospects in Jaison Chourio and Juneiker Caceres. Chase DeLauter might also be on that list if the team feels like it won’t work out.
The youth on this team is a goldmine for a team focused on controllable pitching and dependable prospects. If the Guardians play their cards right, they could pull off one of the biggest baseball heists in recent memory.
