Round 5, Pick 176: Albert Regis, Defensive Tackle, Texas A&M

With the edge position shored up earlier, the Chiefs look to the interior of the defensive line. Chris Jones is amazing, but Khyiris Tongs is not, and the team is tired of being gashed in the running game. With their second fifth-round pick, Kansas City grabs Albert Regis, the defensive tackle from Texas A&M.
For a man his size, Regis is freakishly athletic. He runs a 4.88 forty and boasts a 34″ vertical. He had 49 tackles, three for a loss, and two sacks for the Aggies last season. He is harder to move than a stalled school bus. Even double teams have trouble getting Regis off his spot. This will be a huge boost when teams try to run against the Chiefs.
Regis is limited as a pass rusher, flashing inconsistent hands, and not pressuring the quarterback as often as a team would like. That’s OK, though, because he is not going to be utilized against the passing game. It’s opponents running backs who should fear this pick.
