Round 5, Pick 146: Chris McClellan, Defensive Tackle, Missouri

cleveland browns mock, 2026 nfl draft, chris mcclellan, missouri

The reason why teams want depth on the defensive line is that they want their best pass rushers to have something left in the tank during critical moments in the fourth quarter. This is especially true for the Browns, as few players see as many double-teams as Myles Garrett does. To keep the elite first-level defenders fresh over the course of a long season, defenses need to manage the snap counts of the defensive line well.

Chris McClellan can be a solid rotational piece in the NFL. He is coming off his best season at Missouri, where he has eight tackles for loss and six sacks. He has a great frame at 6’4″, and shows flashes of dominance with his strength. McClellan’s lack of explosiveness and inconsistency in his technique limit his ceiling in the league, but he can grow into a productive backup role with coaching.
