Round 7, Pick 217: Diego Pounds, Tackle, Ole MIss

After getting their starting right tackle in round two, the Cardinals go for depth with their final pick. Ole MIss tackle Diego Pounds has great size (6’6 and 325 pounds) and flashed impressive athleticism at the combine (5.15-second forty and 30″ vertical). He excels in pass protection and has the versatility to play tackle or guard in the NFL.
Playing in the SEC, Pounds has faced some of the best pass rushers in the country and held his own. He is tested and proven. His lack of lateral movement may be why he gets moved inside, but either way, he provides depth at a position that requires it more than any other.
