Round 4, Pick 104: Jake Slaughter, Center, Florida

Arizona Cardinals mock, 2026 nfl draft, florida gators, jake slaughter

Hjalte Froholdt is a solid center, but he is a free agent at the end of the year. He’s also 29-years-old, and likely not getting a big extension. He’s at the point in his career that every deal is a one-year deal from here on out. With pick 104, the Cardinals grab Jake Slaughter out of Florida. The Gators center can start in the middle right away for Arizona, or he can play guard. Either way, he is an asset that be had in a good spot.

Slaughter has great size for a center, standing 6’5 and weighing in at 303 pounds. He runs a 5.10 forty, so he can move for a big guy. He was a team captain in Gainesville last season, starting every game, and allowing just one sack on more than 400 passing snaps. He was a finalist for the Rimington trophy and second-team All-American.

Slaughter is a mauler at the point of attack, but he tends to disengage early, and sometimes the play is still going on. That’s a poor motor, and those two words can be a death sentence for any player in the league. He handled the calls for the Gators, and he’s exceptionally smart. If he starts as a backup, it won’t last long. He projects as a long-time starter in the NFL.
