Round 2, Pick 34: Max Iheanachor, Tackle, Arizona State

Other than quarterback, which will be addressed later, the Cardinals’ biggest need is offensive tackle. Paris Johnson Jr missed five games last season, but he should come back fully healthy, and he was a solid player when he was on the field. The right tackle position is not as sure, currently scheduled to be played by Elijah Wilkinson. With pick 34, Arizona takes a hometown kid, Max Iheanachor, out of Arizona State.
Iheanachor has the typical size for an NFL starting tackle (6’6 and 321 pounds). He locked in the right tackle spot in 2024 and never let it go, making his transition to the same spot in the NFL an easy one. He did not allow a sack in 2025 and logged more than 2,000 snaps in 32 games over his three years at ASU. He has a background in basketball and soccer, and it shows up on tape. He’s incredibly nimble.
The Nigerian native has a mean streak that is needed in both the running and passing games. An issue he may encounter at the next level is that his run blocking is not as good as his pass blocking. NFL coaching can fix that in the preseason, and he could end up a starter in week one.
