Round 7, Pick 223: Isaiah Jatta, Tackle, BYU

Tunsil isn’t going anywhere, and last year’s first-round pick, Josh Conerly, is locked in at the other tackle position. That doesn’t mean the team shouldn’t draft a tackle. Playing the position in the NFL is playing a game of attrition. Having depth on the o-line is as essential as having a good quarterback. With their final pick, the Commanders take BYU big man, Isaiah Jatta.
The 6’6, 315-pound lineman was the eighth-highest-rated offensive lineman in all of the FBS, according to PFF. He has amazing hand usage and great quickness to help him recover when he’s initially beaten at the line of scrimmage. He can be beaten by inside counter moves, but this is not a player being drafted to start right away. He has time to develop and could be a contributor in the postseason.
