Miami Marlins: SP Max Meyer
2026 Season Stats: 17 GS, 97.0 IP, 9-0 W-L, 2.60 ERA, 9.0% BB%, 26.7% K%, 3.1 WAR
Unlike the previous two teams, the Marlins have plenty of candidates for this list. Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards would be good picks, as they are both having their best seasons to date, but they have been getting a lot of attention recently. Max Meyer is having just as great a season as those two, but has been getting less recognition. He should definitely be an all-star and get some Cy Young chatter, although he definitely isn’t the frontrunner.
A big reason Meyer could be overlooked is the fact that a lot of attention has been going towards other starters like Sandy Alcantara and Eury Perez. Alcantara is a former Cy Young winner and has been on the trade block for years at this point, so there has been a lot of talk surrounding his name. Perez was a highly-touted prospect
who’s had a great start to the season, so he was supposed to be the team’s new ace, but he has not yet reached those heights. Meyer has taken over as the best starting pitcher on this staff, but gets the least recognition out of the three.
Meyer has yet to lose a game, leading the team with a 1.000 win percentage. He has posted career highs across the board and has played a major part in keeping this team in playoff consideration. He leads Miami’s rotation in war (3.1), wins (9), ERA (2.60), and is clearly their best starter. He should definitely be on the All-Star team and should get more recognition around the league for his incredible breakout season so far.
