Round 5, Pick 179, Jaydn Ott, Running Back, Oklahoma

New York adds depth to their rollercoaster running back room in round 5. Breece Hall is a quality RB, but he’s suffered multiple knee injuries in his short career, and he’s been understandably frustrated with the direction of the organization.
Jaydn Ott is an intriguing prospect, although not necessarily an exciting one. He followed a stellar 2023 season at Cal with two disappointing and injury-riddled years (with Cal in 2024 and Oklahoma in 2025).
In a weak running back class, Ott’s ball carrier vision and receiving capabilities (98 career receptions in college) stand out. The former Sooner is a good-not-great athlete, and the Jets won’t expect him to start, but he’s definitely worth a late-round flier.
