Why Flau’Jae is the Ideal Fit for Sonia Raman’s System

It’s easy to understand why the Storm were eager to get this trade done. Johnson will be a seamless fit in head coach Sonia Raman’s offensive system. She runs a dribble-drive, read-and-react attack which caters to Johnson’s skill set. Raman also thrives at individual player development, and with a few seasons of getting acclimated to the WNBA, the Storm may have the next superstar on their hands.
Johnson had many attributes to her game that the coaching staff loved, and the fact that she is capable of scoring at all three levels just made her a more attractive addition. Her mid-range game is also elite and is considered to be her “bread and butter,” as she shot nearly 50 percent during her collegiate career. She is also an exceptional perimeter shooter, improving each year from behind the arc in Baton Rouge. Johnson also excels in transition on both ends of the floor, and her defensive anticipation is off the charts. She is disruptive and sets the tone for her team.
The Storm rolled the dice, took a chance, and may have gotten their next franchise player. Johnson is capable of having a similar impact as Sue Bird did during her historic run with the franchise. The “Flaujae Era” in Seattle should be an entertaining one for seasons to come, as opposing front office executives will look back at the 2026 WNBA Draft and regret not choosing her.
