The New England Patriots were completely manhandled by the Seattle Seahawks
defense in a 29-13 loss last night in Super Bowl LX. Despite the Patriots Super Bowl
loss, the team has no reason to hang their heads. This season has been an absolute
gem for a young team with a new coach, and the future seems bright in Foxborough.

When the season began, nobody would have expected the Patriots to win the AFC
Championship. Most pundits had the team that went 4-13 in 2025 winning eight or nine
games. A second-year quarterback with a new coach and a new coordinator is not a
recipe for success. While that may be true, what New England showed this year is that
it depends on the quarterback, the coach, and the coordinator. Based on the awards
handed out at the NFL Honors ceremony, this trio was the perfect storm.

Mike Vrabel And Josh McDaniels

There is little question that when the Patriots decided to move on from their “should be”
first-ballot Hall of Fame Coach after the 2023 season, the organization wanted Mike
Vrabel as their next coach. He wanted to be there too, but the team had a contractual
obligation to give the job to Jerod Mayo. He might have been fired at the end of 2024,
no matter how well he did, but going 4-13 just made it easier.

Tennessee Titans fans will say that Vrabel should never have been fired from their team.
He is a phenomenal motivator and players’ coach, and teams generally won’t play
harder than they will for a guy like him. The Patriots got an absolute steal when he
chose ot to sign with a team for 2024. His decision to bring back Josh McDaniels was
genius, since there may not be a better offensive play caller in the league.

Despite a lack of success as a head football coach, McDaniels has coached Hall of
Fame veterans and rookie signal callers, and gotten elite performance from them all.
Anyone who can get Mac Jones to be a playoff quarterback would have a blast calling
plays for Drake Maye, and that he did. Maye was the most accurate quarterback in the
NFL last season, and almost won co-MVP honors.

The entire team felt new, not just the coaches. There were 30 new players on the
Patriots in 2025,
the most ever by a team to make the Super Bowl. They all worked
together perfectly. The team featured the second-best scoring offense in the league
(28.8 points per game) and the fourth-best scoring defense (18.8). There may have
been undeserved criticism regarding their schedule, but this is one of 32 professional
teams, and in the end, they were one of two left standing.

Building Off The Patriots Super Bowl Appearance

The success of the Patriots this season will undoubtedly give players the idea that a
new dynasty could be forming, with the league’s brightest young quarterback at the
center. Receivers will want to come here, whether they are free agents, or they want to
be traded. Who doesn’t want to catch passes from a quarterback who always hits his
receivers in the hands? Defenders will want to come here to excel under Vrabel, and
this will be just the first of many deep playoff runs for the Vrabel-led team.

The Patriots deserve a huge congratulations and pat on the back from their fans and the
communities that surround the team. They have nothing to be ashamed of and need to
walk out of this with their heads held high. No other team could have done what this
team did in 2025, and every member of the coaching staff, and every player on the field
should feel nothing but an overwhelming sense of pride.
