Harper Still Delivering Value Despite Phillies’ Struggles

Philadelphia Phillies (17–21, 9 GB) | Bryce Harper: 13 Years, $330M ($25.4M AAV)

MLB superstar Bryce Harper's contract was heavily scrutinized by front office heading into the year. He has answered recently with solid power numbers.
Phillies First Baseman Bryce Harper

Harper has been labeled a “phenom” virtually his entire life. To his credit, he does an incredible job at taking it all in and remaining humble. The two-time MVP has battled injuries and taken position changes in stride as a professional. The Phillies, though, especially this season, need him to be the man, the leader, and the example for others to follow.

Bryce Harper’s DataStreak Chart: Here

New skipper Don Mattingly has the ability to command respect himself, and he knows firsthand that if the leaders are successful, the remainder of the club will do everything possible to follow suit. After a slow start, Harper appears on track towards another stellar season, and in turn, the 25.4 AAV might offer an incredible return, through to 2031, when Harper will arrive at a time when Cooperstown enters the conversation as a common reference.

Final Thoughts on MLB Mega Contracts, and ROI

Harper, like Soto and Guerrero, is all on track for career numbers that place them as a potential first-ballot inductee. They would all like to add a World Series with their current club to their HOF resume when the time comes. That should satisfy the optimum ROI for these mega contracts.
