Round 1, Pick 32: Dillon Thieneman, Safety, Oregon

Based on the way the board falls, the Seahawks will go for essentially a hometown player to fill a hole in their secondary. The pick is Dillon Thieneman out of Oregon, and he will be expected to replace Bryant when the season starts. He measured 6’0 and 201 pounds at the combine, then ran a blazing 4.35 forty, and posted a 41″ vertical.
Aside from his extraordinary athleticism, Thieneman is outstanding in coverage. He is a three-year starter, beginning his career at Purdue before transferring to Oregon as a Junior. He recorded 106 tackles, 104 tackles, and 96 tackles, respectively, over his career. He had six interceptions as a freshman and two last season.
Thieneman’s biggest issue is getting fooled by play action. Once he recognizes the pass, though, he is all over it, and it spells bad news for the quarterback. He also needs to be better at block shedding at the next level.
