The Board Breaks Right, And They Trade Up to Pick 6

Another trade the Cowboys can make is with the Cleveland Browns for pick six. The Browns should be receiving a ton of calls for this pick, as this draft has a lot of highly touted defensive prospects who many teams are fighting for. While the Browns could stay put if wide receiver Carnell Tate is not selected, and take him here, there is a strong likelihood that either the Giants or Titans can take him at picks 4 or 5. If this happens, Cleveland would be happy to trade down and recoup draft capital. They already have an elite defense, so a team that is looking to get one of the top defensive prospects still available would definitely look to trade with them.

The Cowboys are one of these teams, and if the player they want is available, they would jump on this offer. Some of the potential players that the Cowboys could look to trade up and get here are Downs/Styles (whichever one the Giants don’t take), defensive end Rueben Bain, or cornerback Monsoor Delane. The team’s most likely choice if Bailey or Reese don’t fall is one of either Styles or Downs. As previously mentioned, these players are considered safe, high-floor players at positions of need for the Cowboys.

Bain or Delane could also be in play at this pick. The Cowboys have needs practically all over their defense, and this includes corner and edge. Delane is recognized by most as the CB1 of this class and it’s said that he will become one of the top 10 to 12 best corners in the league pretty quickly. Bain, while falling slightly on many big boards throughout the offseason due to his small armspan, is still a highly respected talent that would certainly improve their defense. This trade-up will only happen if the Cowboys like who falls to pick 6. If the board does not play out the way they want, they most likely stay put or look to trade up with another team.
