With Spring around the corner and pitchers and catchers set to report, the MLB Top Prospects list has been released. It’s no surprise to see Pittsburgh Pirates 19-year-old shortstop Konnor Griffin topping the list, but which team has the best group of prospects?
Determining who had the worst squads isn’t difficult. The Houston Astros didn’t have a
single MLB prospect in the top 100. Every other team had at least one, and the Angels,
Padres, Diamondbacks, and Rangers each had only one. The Rangers are better off
than the rest, because at least their prospect is in the Top 10. 19-year-old shortstop
Sebastian Walcott, comes in at seventh overall.
MLB Top Prospects Top Teams
The Seattle Mariners had the most Top 100 prospects, with seven. Leading their list is
ninth-ranked shortstop Colt Emerson. He was the 22nd pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, and
after a couple of seasons in the minors, he has a chance to make the team this spring.
The bottom of their list is the 91st-ranked MLB prospect, switch pitcherJurrangelo
Cijntje, who is just 22 years old. He was the 15th-overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft out
of Mississippi State. When pitching left-handed, Cijntje tops out between 98-101 miles
per hour, while right-handed, his top fastball is between 88-92 miles per hour.
With the second most (6) players on the top 100 prospects, the Cleveland Guardians’
first young player doesn’t appear on the list until the 20th spot. The first overall pick in
the 2024 MLB Draft, second baseman Travis Bazzana is their top young player.
Between three minor league teams last season, Bazzana played 111 games, hitting
.243 with 12 home runs and 51 RBI’s.
The Guardian’s lowest-ranked prospect is catcher Cooper Angle, at 99th overall. He
was the 125th-overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, and last season hit .260 with 10 home
runs and 55 RBI’s while splitting time between AA and AAA. The future looks bright in
Cleveland.

Six different teams had five players in the top 100, while the Pirates and Detroit Tigers
had the highest-ranking pair of players. Pittsburgh features top prospect Griffin, and the
11th-ranked player, right-handed pitcher Bubba Chandler. The Tigers’ top two were
second overall prospect, shortstop Kevin McGonagle, and 10th-overall prospect,
outfielder Max Clark.
Many of these prospects will switch teams via trades and get moved up/down
throughout the year, but for right now, it’s the Mariners who have the best farm system
in the league. The team that finished 2025 with 90 wins, and featured Gold Glove
catcher (and 60-home run hitter) Cal Raleigh, either has a great long-lasting future
ahead, or a trove of players they can use to bolster their roster before the playoffs in
2026.
