Only offensive linemen are left to compete in the Underwear Olympics at Lucas Oil Stadium today. Yesterday, the quarterbacks showed their stuff, and Miami’s Carson Beck NFL Draft stock should be bought, no matter the price. He didn’t wow the crowd in attendance physically like Arkansas’ Taylen Green, who set the quarterback record for the forty-yard dash and vertical leap.
Beck showed what he has throughout his entire collegiate career. That he is worthy of being a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. Unfortunately for him, he will be a day two pick, and years from now, the same experts who say he belongs there, will act dumfounded when asked, “How did this guy last until pick ___?”
It was only fitting that Beck was booed mercilessly by the crowd, having faced off against Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza in the National Championship. The negativity had little effect on him, as Beck showed zip on intermediate passes, arm strength to make the deep out throws effortlessly, and touch on over-the-shoulder balls. There were no question marks by the end of the day about whether or not he has all the tools to play quarterback in the NFL.
Better Than Past Top Picks

Beck completed 69.5% of his passes in 39 career games. He amassed almost 12,000 yards passing and connected on 88 touchdown passes. His career has been nothing if not historic, and there was talk after the 2023 season that he was going to be the first overall pick in the draft. He suffered a shoulder injury, and questions arose about his leadership; he is in the unfair position of having to defend himself today.
This past season, despite not winning the Heisman like Mendoza, or throwing 41 touchdown passes, a case can be made that he was the best quarterback in college football. He completed 72.4% of his passes, making him more accurate than not just Mendoza, but more accurate than the first five quarterbacks taken in the Draft. That list includes Caleb Williams and Trevor Lawrence.
The last quarterback to have a better season going into the draft, and being the first quarterback taken, was Joe Burrow back in 2020. Beck didn’t just light up non-conference powder puff opponents. He went 7-1 against top 25 schools in 2025. He completed 67.4% of his passes for 224 yards per game and a 17:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Carson Beck NFL Draft Steal
At 6’4 and 220 pounds, Beck has NFL size, and he’s shown throughout his career and at the combine yesterday that he is ready to make an impact immediately at the pro level. He may not fall to pick 199 like Tom Brady, or be Mr. Irrelevant like Brock Purdy, but Beck is going to be the steal of the 2026 NFL Draft. If he lands in the right situation (maybe Pittsburgh or Arizona), he could end up starting right away and leave people wondering why Mendoza was the top pick in the draft.
