Jacksonville Jaguars: Is 11 Picks Too Many?

2026 NFL Draft Preview: AFC South, Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence

Despite not having a first-round pick due to trading up for Travis Hunter in last year’s draft, various other trades have netted Jacksonville 11 total picks, including three third-rounders. This amount of capital is near the high end of what a team may use in a draft, given the number of players allowed on a roster. The Jaguars roster is not currently thin at many positions, and spending all of these picks would require cutting or trading players currently rostered to make space.

Jacksonville may not have the capital necessary to move into round one, but they could consolidate their third-round picks for another second-rounder. They could also look to acquire more picks over the next two drafts, where they currently only have their standard seven picks. Many teams believe having more picks is the secret to great drafts, as more chances provide better odds for finding an elite player.

Unless the Jaguars have concerns about their current depth and believe any dead cap space would be worth improving the roster, acquiring more picks next year using fourth round and later picks would maximize their value. Spending capital on players who may not make the roster is wasted, and next year’s class is considered to be one of the strongest in recent years. Having more capital to make moves next year could yield Jacksonville an elite player.
