3rd Place: United States (Previous World Baseball Classic Runner-Up)
The United States isn’t the only team with an abundance of talent at its disposal, but their star power is staggering. Manager Mark DeRosa will face the enviable challenge of making difficult lineup decisions when the tournament intensifies in the later rounds. It is the MLB network anchor’s second stint as a World Baseball Classic skipper

Several stars, including Alex Bregman, Aaron Judge, Byron Buxton, Kyle Schwarber, and Pete Crow-Armstrong—primarily occupy one position or DH. It is widely assumed that Schwarber has the designated hitter role locked down.
Another potential concern for Team USA is the strikeout rate. While this lineup has tremendous power, it also carries a significant swing-and-miss profile.
Utilityman Ernie Clement, a contact specialist and strong defensive asset, could see more playing time than expected because of his versatility, and knack for making contact.
Playing at home in Miami during the later rounds should work in the United States’ favor. However, they may run into a formidable opponent in the Dominican Republic during the semifinals. If that matchup materializes, they will need their aces, Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes, to go deeper into games.
At this time of year, that may be a tall order.
