Blueprint To Build Around His Talent

Several NFL teams have had success by designing offenses around elite quarterbacks. Lamar Jackson is a two-time MVP and has led the Baltimore Ravens to multiple playoff appearances. Jalen Hurts has won a championship and was named Super Bowl MVP for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jayden Daniels has won Offensive Rookie of the Year and led the Commanders to a conference championship game. They all run offenses that let them create with their arms and legs, while simplifying the decisions they have to make on reading the defense.
The better the quarterbacks have performed, the more the offense has been expanded to what they could handle. Richardson is obviously not at the level for any of these quarterbacks right now. That doesn’t mean he couldn’t thrive in a similar setup on a new team, where the offense keeps it simple enough for him to use his running ability and strong arm to make plays until he’s more comfortable going through progressions.
Anthony Richardson Contract Status Opens Door For Another Team
It seems the Colts will move on from Richardson after his contract expires in the offseason. The team has Jones solidified as their starter, and they seem unwilling to wait any longer for Richardson to develop. While he has not worked out for the team that drafted him, the next team that brings Richardson in can still unlock his elite talent. The key will be to view him as a future investment, not as someone who will make an impact instantly. Having Richardson sit and learn is the best course of action, as he is only 23.
Richardson needs to have the desire and work ethic to clean up his throwing mechanics and footwork. He also needs to improve his accuracy and better protect himself against injuries that have hindered his development. It will also require a team to take the opportunity to acquire one of the League’s best physical talents and invest in his potential.
A team with a strong coaching staff that is committed to building a system to his skill set. A team with a veteran quarterback on the roster that Richardson can learn from. Elite quarterback upside is hard to find in the NFL, and most teams would jump at the chance to get someone with that. A fresh start in the right situation is all it will take for Richardson to fulfill that.
